The lowly cleanup drone
« on: October 29, 2010, 09:50:22 pm »
So do cleanup drones serve any purpose at all anymore? With the AI not using turrets are there any remains to clean, really? Even if they did, without their teleporting ability would they be able to survive any length of time in a hostile system?

mines, in theory. However, mines are usually only a minor annoyance the way the Ai uses them, nowhere near the old turrets

Pretty much just mines at present I think. I don't miss turret balls, even if these are less useful than they used to be.

Yeah, this isn't intended to be a "bring back AI turrets" post, more of a "maybe cleanup drones should be rethought/removed" post.

Well, they do still serve a purpose, if only for the few AIs that use perma mines. If you run up against that, I'm sure you'd miss clean-up drones heh.

Perma mines are gone now -- they really are out of a job at this point

When did they get removed?

Only use I seen is against turrets that hybrids built.

And they are so fragile that if there are enemies around you need one cleanup drone per wreck. When it decloaks to clean it gets destroyed.
