The end of the universe
« on: July 16, 2012, 10:06:09 am »
Just for fun...what do you think an AI network would do if it calculated that the end of the universe was coming, the final Big Crunch?  Would it calculate that all further struggle is a waste of energy and just have all it's machines deactivate spontaneously?

Depends on how smart it is. I've always read it as the AI is rather dumb except in the area of tactics, it's just following its programming to fight the enemy on behalf of its masters. It just has a screw loose and is seeing everyone as the enemy. It would probably just keep killing everyone in sight until the end came. I don't think it goes in for higher philosophizing on the nature of the universe.
