I was on the boring weekend-shopping-tour, but that box made me smile :D

Hey, I have been looking for AIWar in the shops, but I haven't found one yet. I want to give it as a birthday present, and the boxed version is much more appropriate for this than the downloadable, as you can wrap it as a gift. It is kind of lame just gifting someone with a string of numbers, even if you put it in a nice envelope.

But now I see it is out in Germany, so I'll continue pestering the Copenhagen game shops, asking them why they don't have this new, fantastic game.

When SoSE was out, the importers decided that noone in this country really wants to pay for a space game, but I managed to talk them into putting some copies on the shelves, and this proved them wrong.

Wow, cool!  How did I miss this thread, haha?  Lars (Fiskbit) pointed me to this, very cool.

At the moment, AI War is only out in Germany/Austria/Switzerland for retail.  Within the next month, it will also be available in Russia and all of the other former USSR countries.  Beyond that, at present, so far AI War is not coming to retail.  The US and UK retail PC markets in particular have had a huge downturn recently, and that has made publishers very cautious.  However, we are always scouting for new deals with various publishers, and so hopefully things will change on that score; the game has had a lot of success in recent months, and our more recent sales numbers are going to be a lot more enticing to publishers than our prior numbers were back in the September/October timeframe, which is when both our deals with Germany and Russia started being negotiated (this stuff takes forever, as you might imagine).  So, we'll see how it goes.

But tonight one of my goals is actually to put together a more up-to-date presentation that our sales agent and lawyer can use to show around at various publishers.  We'll see how it goes, but so far AI War has been an ongoing (moderate) success in a way that most games can't match, which is a good sign.

This is too cool a topic for off topic, I'm moving it to the main AI War folder. :)

Wow! if (when?) it comes out as a box in the US, i'll have to order a copy :) What you should try and do is get a boxed copy orderable on Amazon -- they ship all over the place from what i understand....

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

We need a collectors edition with some sort of figurine included.  Perhaps an astro train station for my bed stand?

I really think that if AI War continues to 'clean up its act' and become easier to play and get into and prettier to look at and listen to, it could easily spread.

If Dwarf Fortress can have a strong following, AI War can easily have a larger one - it's about 10x less obtuse than DF already, and gets far more regular updates :P
