Since I've started playing v4.x lately (to be clear, I have the latest version, and have tried v4.21 and v4.3 both in which these bugs are present), I've noticed some troubling behavior with the way my units sometimes act in battle.
One thing I've noticed is that sometimes, enemy units seem to get "stuck" in one place on their planet, you can see them slowly "twitching" back and forth like they are attempting to move, and they also fire if you come into range, but your units won't attack them unless forced. It's almost like the enemy ships are kind of stuck in low-power mode, but kind of not, to the point that your units don't consider them a threat, and they can't move, but they still fire.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Another problem I've seen recently is concerning the way "attack-move" works in the 4.x versions. It used to be that when you ordered an army of units to "attack-move", they would move at group speed (if enabled) to their location, stopping individually when anything came into range until it was dead. Now obviously specific unit types would pick different targets based on what they were best against, but in general, they would attack something as soon as they came into range.
Now it seems completely different. When I use "attack-move", half my army just flies right over the enemy to get to the "final" location and sits there. Half my army attacks what they first meet, and then the rest of my army just attacks things "on the way". So where before attack-move used to give your units a very solid and team-oriented "formation" that would continue attacking units as it met them, now it seems to attack random things, spread them apart, and generally just not work how it is supposed to at all. Has anybody else experienced this?
Anyway, thanks in advance for your responses.
