I support most of the mean options.  It is one more way for things to get out of hand accidently, and I really feel the AI needs more of those.  Especially in a case like this because you'll nearly always have had the option to destroy the Super Terminal, but you added to your risk for a reward so getting burned feels more like something in your control than some RNG death.

But that thing never stops sending ships? Whats the point? 100 core ships every 15 sec, are you supposed to blow it up or leave the planet, or are you supposed to actually defend yourself from those waves?
Some players have managed to permanently hold it off, and still be able to do other things.
Playing AI wars really reminds me how bad I am at RTS.
The strategies I've seen for holding off the super terminal indefinitely tend to have more to do with just piling a _ton_ of stuff on the planet, high tech, maybe some spire capital ships, etc.  Just overwhelming force.  Not a lot of skill :)

Indeed. I often pile a lot of stuff on the planet, and a few completet turret Mk's. But evnetually I loose it since I have yet to pile that much on it :P.

I like it the way it is. Maybe the ST should run a minute or two after the player's command station is gone (so you need to know when to stop, maybe even prevent it from shutting down while a wave warning is active/make the shutdown timer longer than the regular wave timer) but you're already penalized by having a system that you can't maintain control of. The ST is something you have to conquer first after all, there should be a reward for it. Maybe it should be allowed to spawn the ships anywhere in the system so that you can't just camp the ST and kill the spawning ships the moment they come out.

EDIT: Or if you want to be evil just spawn the ST's ships at the AI homeworld or something. Give the AI free control over where to move them and when. The player's gotta know when to deactivate the ST just by watching the threat meter.

I like this thematically, but shudder to think how it will change the game ....
