Super-Terminal 'Re-Balancing'
« on: September 05, 2014, 06:46:48 pm »
Sooo... when was the decision taken to decrease the tick timer to 1 second?

I was working on the assumption that the super-terminal ticks were still about 15 seconds or so, which would give me time to move a cloaked force into place to take out the terminal out even if the command station went down. This turned out to be rather misguided.

I am now seriously considering nuking a planet on 9/9 difficulty for the first time. It's only the fact that I'm doing this game for a Let's Play thread that's keeping me from save scumming.

So, uh, last patch notes  I see still say 5 second ticks...

If a pulse is big enough it actually decreases the pulse size in return for shortening the interval; that's been the case for probably at least a year.

It knows that, secretly, deep down, you like that sort of thing ;)

When carriers need carriers for their carriers?

That sentence is mathematically correct.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

I look at those screenshots, then I see Cinth's sig ...

Now I can't stop thinking of those carriers as a line of stepping stones stretched across the gravity well.

To be fair, the sig was in response to a ST hack.

It all comes back to the Superterminal.

Honestly, the "end of the world" response crashing the game seems entirely appropriate.

Uh huh.  Tell me to nuke it.  Tell the AI to crash it.

Lumbermill, meet torch.  Torch, meet Lumbermill.  Now you two play nice.

The average torch would probably reduce the ambient temperature.

You might even say... dual welding.

If you want to try and weld with a Propylene torch, go for it.  Best uses for these things are setting fire to stuff and brazing.

Also... who's the *rimshot for?  My obvious dual wield joke or the dual weld joke :p.

Timing is everything to a comedian.

While I applaud (and practice) both pyromania and really bad puns, I was responding to the latter.

Can I interest you in an Acetylene Torch?  Lots of intentional and unintentional pyro there  :D
