Sudden appearance of 1300 mk5 Cockroaches ?

So, for some reason my threadmeter went from 150 to 1300 in a few seconds and few seconds afterwards i got hit by 1000 Cockroaches. I fended them off, but I'm wondering what was causing them to appear. I remember to have scouted (with scouts) a homeworld just a minute earlier. Where do cockroaches spawn from ?

Roaches are spawned by a core guard post, which stores them over time and releases them when a player unit gets close.

unfortunately they can now spawn at any time. I believe Techsy told me about a bug that currently teleports some ships to a random location at the moment of their death. It's most likely what's triggering all the neinzul nests to spawn their younglings all at once in my current game (it's the only logical explanation at least).

I set one of these off during the intermediate tutorial and then died, as they went straight for my homeworld.

I vaguely remember that it was a scout that set them off.  That seems unduly harsh; I generally don't expect scouting a system to cause things to leave that system and go a-rampaging.

Just to clarify, the odd "ships show up on other planets on death" class of bugs are quite rare. Like they happened once, maybe twice in my last game which was about 60 hours (that I could tell, obviously it would be harder to track with AI ships, though I did have neinzul nests on in that game, but I think I only had one, maybe two "spontaneous" triggers).

Sadly, maddening level of rarity just makes it that much harder to debug.  :-\


I haven't tested the scouting thing with home planet exclusive stuff. Last time I checked, most of the "enemy ships on my/adjacent planet" effects don't trigger with scouts alone (I think there is only one spawning thing that wakes up when enemy ships are around is specifically designed around also waking up for scouts. No other build up and spawn when triggered thing is supposed to), so I would be somewhat surprised if core cockroach post (or whatever it is called) did it.

Maybe a minor faction that is enemy to the AI? That sort of thing has been an issue with several minor factions in the past.
