Holy smokes, you're getting robbed today.  :p

We're the ones who signed up for it!  Price elasticity and all that.  So far in the last 30 minutes we've made more than we have since this Steam summer sale started earlier in the week.  Very nice indeed, if that keeps up!

I bought the bundle earlier today (one of those first 30 minutes purchasers), and just bought 3 more bundles (as gifts) a few minutes ago.  I figured it'd be easier to get people interested later when I'm not constrained by the 24 hour sale.  Now, I just need to find 3 worthy people (this is not an invite, LOL!) to gift the game to.

I'm a very cautious spender when it comes to games, so unless it's something I know I'll absolutely love, I'm very hesitant to spend even $20.  I wouldn't even spend more than $10 on Civilization V, one of my favorite series, to give you guys an idea of what I mean (it looks good, but the terrible AI makes it not worthwhile at all).  Had it not been for the sale, I would never have heard about AI War.  Had it not been for the price, I wouldn't have checked out reviews for the game.  Instead, I just spent almost $20 on a game I still have yet to play, simply because it was cheap enough for me to get a bunch of friends into as well (I do not like playing games alone).  You just got four new AI War players, and I'm hoping that each of those players will get their friends to buy the game later as well.

And I just bought it two days ago for $14.99 for the full pack.  Sigh.  Ah well, that's how it goes.  Wish I'd known, though. 

At least my money went to a most excellent development group!

I'm rarely embittered by this sort of thing - I figure if the price you paid was a price you were willing to pay, which you considered worth it, basically, then that's what matters; not whether you could've got it cheaper by holding out for a sale. Things always get cheaper eventually, after all!

Does anybody know if I can register the STEAM version with Impulse somehow? I would like to somehow be able to play AI:WAR without the need for Steam... and still take advantage of the discount ;-)

I believe you can, I registered my Impulse version on Steam.

Also you can download the full game direct from the Arcen website and use your Steam key to unlock the game, so you'd have a stand-alone copy on your PC unlocked with a valid key, but not using Steam to launch it.

A lot of people are initially put off by the long (lots of reading) tutorial and that you can't initially just pick up and play. However after a few hours of getting to know the game mechanics it all becomes clear and I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.

Oh yeah, we've seen that sort of thing, too.  In other sales we've done we've seen a massive uptick in sales, but this one is looking to be pretty special -- it's earned more in the last hour than we tend to earn during the average no-sale month.

Bought it, and then played for a little, now got 3 frends to buy it and bought 2 more copies myself (want to get more.. just don't have that much extra money atm), I have to say this game is very good from what i seen, a hidden gem found today

Haven't bought it yet, though I'm tempted. I know I won't play it, but I'm still inclined to get it based on what I've read and because it looks like a well supported game. It's kind of like these Humble Bundles which I buy just because I like the concept but don't play. To buy or not to buy, that is the question.

I've spent quite a bit on all of the humble bundles and I only ever played one game out of all of them...

My Vulcan side says that's illogical. My obsessive collector side says "buy games, buy games".

Edit: I used to buy way too many games and play few of them. Averaged about $30-$40 a month (mostly sub-$10 games on sales). I've been trying to cut down this year, and have so far been reasonably successful (probably dropped to $10-$20 on average). So I'm trying hard to resist sales.

Eventually bought it, because it looks like a developer worth supporting. Not that it was easy. Steam was crawling and I wouldn't go into Paypal, and I ended up paying with a credit card.

This was an incredibly banner event for us.  It earned into the six figures in 24 hours alone, and the total was more than the first 5 months of this year (which were good months) combined, as well as more than the entirety of 2009 for us.  As of today, our 2011 revenue now outstrips out entire 2010 revenue by something like 4%, and it's only early July.

This is really something of a relief, because it buys us a bit of working room in terms of AVWW if it should turn out we need it.  Basically, we earned six months of operating capital in a single day -- and given how bleak the July-September period often is in this industry, that's really nice because this windfall should more than cover that shortfall this year.

It's not like we won the lottery, but it puts us on ever-more-secure footing which is exactly what we like to see. Thanks to everyone who helped to make that possible!
