I vote for shield remains. That means rebuilding my command center environment is a fire-and-forget thing, not having to wait for the CC to finish before I can make the FF again.

exactly. It wouldn't be the first time I would forget to rebuild my FF and have my command station destroyed again really quickly. FF remains would avoid this, plus enabling me to focus my attention on something else, instead of having to wait till command station finishes building.
Sounds like on for mantis.

I know it was my idea, but I've thought of at least one potential counterargument: sometimes you don't want your shields rebuilt. Like in exactly that sort of situation, I might have a CC + a spire civ leader/factory4/fab/other valuable thing that I'm protecting under one or more strong FFs. If the whole thing ends up getting bulldozed over by the AI, once rebuilding I typically will rebuild with no FF, or a weak one at most. If auto-rebuilding exists, now that's actually one more thing I have to remember to do when rebuilding (clear away remains of multiple large FFs or whatever), instead of one less, or else I'll end up dropping lots of resources where I didn't mean to.

That being said, I still think it's worth it overall.

It could be made an option for the remains to be left under the per-planet/galaxy-wide settings menus. That'd give some control over it.

to counter your counter, I could say the same for turrets. They only rebuild automatically after you take the manual act of colonization.
Life is short. Have fun.

I miss control nodes. Without having some fine tuning control, this could be really annoying.

Per planet as well as global control options maybe? With the per planet settings (if set) overriding the global (which sadly would require some sort of tri-state checkbox for the per planet version)

We still have the same level of control but through a menu, right?

Shameless advertisement for a mantis post somewhat relevant to this post
