Yeah, this is why i asked for a savegame by the way - i would have hoped that waves in savegames are identical each time, but i guess not?

This kind of contest will be better suited once we have statistics/achievements in the game imo...

Maybe then we could even include specific challenges that are ranked in a online score table.

The AI isn't seed-based, so it's decisions will vary per savegame, but otherwise it would be identical, yes.  Probably the first wave would arrive at the same time in a savegame, but after that it will be more randomized.

Yes, I think that will be cool, but I think it's cool here too.

You know, this is such a cool idea that i made a suggestion covering it, because i just realize that this kind of "extra" stuff thats maybe tied to only registered versions could also prevent piracy. Which right now is not a huge issue, but once the game hits retail, it will be.

If AI War was ever released in a box, I'd buy it again just to have the box :P

Hopefully by Christmas, depending on your country.  Fingers crossed, anyway, as the deal is not final.

And eRa, I liked your suggestion -- I'm super swamped now, so I just moved it to the future DLC forum, but that's cool.

With 1.201C they don't even launch a single attack until 14 minutes in, for me anyway.
Yeh, the times will have to be version based.

There's no difference in the timing of attacks between versions (although I agree that the times need to be version-based for other reasons).

BUT, this does raise another point: essentially, there is a big random component to how frequently the AI sends waves.  If it sends a wave really fast it will be weaker, but if it waits longer it will be much stronger.  Since in this impossible challenge all waves are likely to be fatal, it is just going to randomize how quickly you are getting killed most likely, making the relative times semi-meaningless (a spread of 10-15 minutes is a statistical nonevent here).

What I suggest is this:  also consider how many waves each player survives.  If someone survives 2 waves in 10 minutes versus dying on the first wave after 20 minutes, the first case is a bit more impressive to me.
Maybe we could even make it score based? Since score seems to be 95% based on ships you've killed anyway.

Yeah, I think that would actually be a good measure.  The score is 100% based on how many ships you build and how many you kill, there are no other factors at this time.
