It really says something about a game when the AI is the one abusing loopholes that you have to watch out for instead of the players. Most games you have to watch out for sneaky tricks from the players.

The AI probably won't really get them much; they don't reinforce with younglings, younglings are not eligible for exos, and if you're getting MkV waves then the younglings are probably the least of your worries :)

A mkV wave situation would, yes.  And at that point they're probably roughly as threatening as the other mkV bonus types except for their speed.  The other main benefit they have is being dirt cheap, which doesn't help the AI at all.
