No, this is definately later in the game. The "giant-butt-whooping-wave-before-15-seconds" is definately fixed, but it would appear that after about 1:30 the threat slowly starts rising, and it's almost 95% high mark ships (IIIs and IVs, sometimes the occasional V) and will keep rising as you get attacked by these high level ships. There seems to be no end to it either.

Just as you think you fought them off, another 50 or so come through a wormhole, and since Tractor Turrets cost 36 000 crystal these days, you 0% chance to get any up to catch these waves, which means they completely slaughter your economy, grinding you to a complete stall and then work you down from there.

It's quite frustrating and I've actually stopped playing for now, because I find myself losing temper and become angry, and that's not the way it's supposed to be.

If you need me to test anything specific, please let me know, but I'm not playing casually until this is fixed. Sorry :(

you only lose about a quarter of your economy - your home station provides 300 metal and crystal, your cryo station/settlements stuff makes a bunch as well - none of that will go away if you lose your harvesters

Also, repair still broken :(

Don't be, if we broke it that bad we want to know about it :)

That said, I'm not sure if the issue you're encountering is due to the older kinds of threat issues (where you had nothing to do with it, the ships freed themselves) or one of the newer bugs we're seeing where even scouting planets is getting the AI all bothered.  How much scouting were you doing before the hammer came down, if any?

Sorry about the threat stuff, that is very frustrating.  We fixed a ton of startup-threat issues; from what you've said lately it sounds like the threat is starting a bit later (in some of my tests threat was a flat zero until the first wave at the 30ish minute mark) and gradually increases, and the ships are much higher mark than they should be.  Or is this another start-of-game-sack thing?

It scouts and special forces. I've run into it now, also. I should be able to resolve it today for good. It's actually a completely different issue from before, thankfully.

Yeah, sorry for venting. I have a tendency of losing my temper when things aren't going my way and I don't know _why_. Bad trait.

I've scouted two worlds, but not the world where the high mark ships are coming from. I'm starting to suspect that in my current game this is actually intended mechanics, but it's a bit harsch. Most of the info is amassed in the bug report. I'll be happy to help you there with comments, specific testing or any questions you need asked. We shouldn't swamp this thread with one single bug once it's been reported.

After I use alt+tab to get into the game, a little text tip appears beneath my cursor saying alt( which is a warning I guess telling me that it is already pressed).

Here's an easier reproduction:
alt+tab out of the game
Click on the game icon on the taskbar to get back in
notice the text on the cursor

Same thing happens with me, as I've said before.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

Guys.. I fear its worse than I thought. Some structures cost improper amounts to build - a starship constructor is costing only a third of the requisite crystal.

All testing is done on my save in #626, where there is no net resource flow unless you do something.

Your economy is screwed up guys. Totally, unequivocally, and hopefully not irrevocably.

Showstopper:

5 Raid Starships at 25 minute mark. Quick game end that can't be really prevented.

Just to make sure: It's not THAT particular game? If you start another and do the same experiment, do you get the same result?

Whyyes, i have. here is repairtest3. A totally new game, with the same issue.

costs arent exactly the same, but I believe that to be because I used slightly different sets of engineers (22mk2 over 10mk1+2mk2)

Okay good, that at least sets it in stone, so it's not a temporary fluke. Thanks for checking!

I can sit in my home world, and if I don't scout, the enemy won't attack me.  I can wait until I've built a massive army.

Is this normal?

the AI responding so aggressively to scouting is, while something a human might do in its place, not by design.

So, yes, that is by design.

It's supposed to be normal but hasn't been for a while.  To be clear, just how long are you waiting?  It is still supposed to be sending the waves (which can be anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour and a half in depending on your settings, iirc).  Unless you're facing two turtle-AIs or have the no-waves option on, of course.
