« on: August 06, 2012, 12:38:08 pm »
OMG ALL of my Spirecraft Rams just suicided on a TURRET ASTRO TRAIN -________________- LOL Astro Trains have Commander-Grade armor and Rams have 0.01 damage multiplier vs that :'(
Can we please have an option to disable FRD for Rams? They're like missiles u know..
Loaded an auto save and used attack move.

Good lord yes.  The FRD on Rams and Mini Rams is incredibly annoying.

Maybe "auto-target astro trains" needs to be a toggle anyway. Turret ATs aren't that much softer than other types.

Or, just turn off trains until they get fixed.

I rather have an option that makes the Spire fleet shoot at those trains.

They don't last long under those several millions+ guns, but they are annoying to have to target each one as they fly into the fleet.

They should just say, hey look at this little train flying right at our guns and no other targets. Vaporize it!

I'd like to see something like this (unless there's a change to how astro trains work). Would be nice to be able to have them auto attacked to get rid of them faster when nothing else is going on and be able to turn it off to avoid everything going after a train when something important happens.

This. So much. Spire fleetballs really should react this way to anything that can die and doesn't cause badness on death. Because when a frigate has a 4m deathbeam, nearly indestructable doesn't mean much.

The better solution perhaps is that Rams should just not auto-attack anything that they have a 0.01 attack multiplier against?

As far as fleets not auto-attacking "nearly indestructable" things, it'd be nice if instead of just ignoring them, they just de-prioritized them.  So if there's softer targets available they would hit those first, but when there's nothing else to shoot at, they might as well take their shots (presuming they're capable of doing actual damage to that target).

Yea, that sounds great right up until the point where an astro train happens to wander through about 3 seconds before a 4000 ship wave, and your turret ball alpha is already spent :)

It would be good to have the option still.

I think I tested trains one time.. and they were very annoying and also frustrating since killing them is quite prevented by the game due to lack of auto targeting. And certain things have fire power to actually dent them - some ships and fortresses for example.

AI planning. Send the thing with insane hitpoints and no guns in first to take all the alpha strike. Then send in the guns.

I approve of it.

Personally, I'd still take that chance.  It's sorta like seeing the AI trickle in a handful of fighters to your mined wormhole at the front of a wave of bombers.  That's your luck of the draw.  But yeah it'd probably be good if it was an option so those people that aren't willing won't get stuck with it.

Same here.
