Enemies between force fields - bug or feature?
« on: September 02, 2011, 08:28:45 pm »
I created a Mk1 FF around a hostile wormhole, and then later a Mk2 encompassing it. I've found that enemies sometimes or always (haven't watched that closely) appear to emerge on the border of the inner Mk1 FF after they come in through the wormhole (and I think just sit there, not moving... again, haven't watched closely). This a mantis?

Yes, please mantis with save.  Those ships are probably pretty stuck until the fields relent, as the positioning code's approach to "trapped by multiple ff's" is usually "put them back where they were".  That generally works really well except when "where they were" isn't valid: just having emerged from a wormhole into a hostile ff.

Done and done. Incidentally, I tried recreating the same scenario afterward and it didn't work... but then I tried overlapping four FFs haphazardly on an "angry" enemy station... and it worked like a charm. I have 156 and counting ships stuck in the dead center of their own station. Ruh roh.
