Sentinal Frigates, Siege Ships & guard posts
« on: January 15, 2011, 07:07:02 pm »
So I'd noticed in my latest game that neither sentinal frigates nor siege ships were capable of targeting guard posts any more - is this a deliberate thing?

They can target them, you just have to get within their radar jamming range :)

A-hah. That'd explain it. No more hanging back and trying to carefully bring down a spire shield post with maws and starship disassemblers hidden under the field then, I suppose I'd best bite the bullet and accept that some of my ships are going to get nommed :P

Well, it's generally just a question of how far you're willing to go.  With an EMP you can disable the forcefield and use snipers and whatever else long-range to take out the maws and disassemblers.

Generally I imagine you'll be content to just throw some relatively cheap ships to the maws and take care of things up close ;)

Yeah, at least I can target things that are *under* the field with the siege guns and sentinals, which helps a little :)
