Neinzul Hybrid and Shield

From the exodus of the machine thread:

I manage to reproduce the issue I mentioned with THREE neinzul hybrids in a galaxy with only barely 3 digits total AI ships. Even better I got a save game and a video recording. The blue AI's champion did this a bit but not as bad.

The neinzul hybrids was briefly out of range for maybe one and half second. Not a serious issue but I see it happens fairly often I thought it was worth a look at.

Champion shield is the easiest way to reproduce it. However I have seen it happens with normal stationary shield as well.

So, what's the bug?

Is it the ships overshooting their target when they finally get past the shield?

Yes pretty big overshoot past their firing range.
