Scoring - How does it work
« on: October 27, 2010, 10:23:28 am »
So I've been wondering about this for quite a while. What contributes to score, what detracts from score, what is "raw" score compared to the other score?

It's always been more about spamming ships than with effective use and strategy... for a long time.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

You build stuff, you get points. You blow stuff up, you get points. I don't see what's so hard about this.  :P

But seriously, I would also like some exact details about the scoring system.

In summation, the way the system is set right now, nothing really matters beyond constructing more ships.  If you have played any MP game with people who have chosen infiltrators/auto cannons/anything spammable, their scores will always be greater than yours.

I suggested a long time ago that this be changed, but it's a low priority I guess, and probably would be done as we go along.

That's referring to the Raw Score only.  The adjusted score is based on a huge number of factors such as the raw score, your kill to loss ratio, how long you played, if you used cheats, what the relative handicap differential was between you and the AI, if you won or lost, all that sort of thing.  That means that the non-raw score will fluctuate up and down as you play, rather than just counting upwards (as the raw score does).
