This is nice and helps in wormhole assaults, but I found another use for it that is probably unintended: They can push units out from underneath AI forcefields/shielded guard posts.

There's also using their tractor beam modules to "steal" a bunch of enemies from a threat-pile on the other side of a wormhole and bring them back to get shredded in detail on your side.

Never thought about doing that. Totally want to do that now
You'll need shield bearers of some kind to be able to succesfully do that. Otherwise the threatball will eat your riots.

Otherwise the threatball will eat your riots.I take it just throwing a cap-full of mkI fighters (or other, cheaper, expendable and numerous units) through first doesn't gum up the enemy targeting lists enough to cover the riots for a few seconds?
