A save where I can reproduce the mis-building would be great :)

And they really should be scrappable, let me know if not.

They can be scapped.

In the case of the DN, the MK III plasma guns if I remember take up the shield slots. You may want one of those in the game.

What I do know for sure is that the modules can be scrapped.

Putting things on a cycle is a bad thing for spire ships. Because if your shield pops it will be rebuilt continuing the cycle which will very likely be a gun. Just use the ----> cycle with spire ships.

Yea, I was going to disable the cycle on modular ships, it auto-rebuilds a slot if the module is destroyed, unless of course it's conflicting with cyclical build orders.  But I just figured it would be less fiddly all around if the modules weren't individually killable, so I did that instead some versions ago.

What this sounds like is the ship coming out of the shipyard with the wrong build order or something, but I need a save (from before the shipyard finished the DN) to be able to tell.

The catch is that the shield module dies, unless that has changed.  If you set up the build order with any kind of cycle, the shield is not auto built but another gun in its place, unless the shield was the first in the cycle then it reverts. But the ships built from template always have the shield built last, so if the ship was set to cycle, the next thing built will be a gun. If the shield dies a second time, the gun will certainly be built unless the ship cycles only shields.

In my experience I've never had the shipyards get the wrong build order, but I remember the shields dieing repeatedly, but I've not seen how it works recently.
Life is short. Have fun.

Oh right, the shields die, duh :)  That could be getting gummed up by a cycle, yea.  I think this case was from the shipyards, but a save will tell.

Will try and find the save when I get home from work tonight / tomorrow.  To clear a few things up though, the DN came out of the ship year with a Plasma Siege Module instead of 2x Shield V, though its not as if it got destroyed and then built over.  When I said qued up I meant on the ship yard with a bunch of Engi III building it using the advanced design already present in the ship yard...
