Objectives screen updates for 8.0

So we're a little over a month out from when we'd like to do the 8.0 official and I'm mainly focused on polish (bugfixes/balance as well as reasonably quick UI stuff) to get ready for that.  The tutorial also needs updating, and I'll do that nearer the actual release so it doesn't get out of date again before 8.0 ;)

But the Objectives screen also needs to be updated, as we've added hacking and a couple of minor factions (in the newest expansion) that should probably show up there.  There might also be some other stuff that's missing that I'm not thinking of.

That said, if it just always shows every possible objective in a given game it may be so much info that its value is diminished.

So what I'm looking for is:
- What objectives do you want it to list, that's it's not currently listing?
- For each of those, would you only want to see them in certain circumstances?

I recommend removing distribution nodes from the objectives screen as they do not really further your goal. Maybe find a way to condense the core shield generators so all the networks are put under their own tab that you click to expand. This can perhaps be done with a lot of stuff.

I'd been thinking of starting a thread just like this  :)

The big omission I'm aware of is Spire Archives.  We somehow forgot all about them when we talked about the objective screen a while ago.  An objective should appear for each Archive discovered. 

The description for gaining early champ levels makes no sense when alt progress is used.

Also, I think the (mouseover?) text says something about capturing ARSs being a "very high priority" or similar, whereas there's nothing comparable about Fabricators.  I think this is a relic from when ARSs gave mark Is and IIs, and mark V ships had only had 40% the cap of mark Is.  I don't see ARSs as a higher priority than Fabs or Archives. (Often a player will want to take ARS-containing worlds anyway for the Core Shield A, but that's not a "high priority" in the sense that it should be completed before other objectives.)

Especially the combination of related objectivs stuff (see Core Shield  Generators).

Hack planet for knowledge in the "gather knowledge" tab. In a few multiplayers games I had, that option tended to be forgotten even when we had a conveniently worthless and neutered AI world.

Thanks for the reminders on what needed to be added.

On what needs to be compressed, etc, I hear you.  But the GUI framework being used here makes that kind of thing a royal pain. After 8.1 (the unity upgrade and linux version) my intention is to then focus on redoing the UI using the stuff we've learned in more recent projects (especially TLF).  That could wind up being a very grueling thing, but we'll see :)

What about instead of removing things like resource nodes and Z reserve, but add them to a "tertiary objectives" section, since they do not give any long-term, stable support to your goal of taking out the AI, but can still help you in the short term.

That should at least get them out of the way of more substantial stuff, but still be there in case you do want to pop one.
