Random AI can be crippled by game options [2.0]
« on: November 21, 2009, 12:52:56 pm »
Not sure if this should be classified as a bug or not, but in a game today I could not work out what type of random AI we were fighting against.  At the end of the game we found it was the Train Master, but Astro Trains had been disabled.  You could have a similar problem if you disabled cloaking, but were given a Stealth Master by the random AI pick.  Should certain AI behaviours require some game options to be active?

This is by design; the AI's will adapt and still function, they simply won't have their specials if that has been turned off.

So basically they are a easy/medium/hard AI with no specials then?

Yep, precisely. If they still have other internal characteristics/personalities, that will also still be present, but that is much harder to recognize than the specials.
