Yeah, go figure.  Well, hopefully it won't be too long before WINE has improved to the point where the game is workable.  It sounds like a number of steps in the right direction, at least!

You mention that core fabricator can build a random core unit.. Why not a random core unit that you can build mk3 of?

I'm not quite sure what you mean.  Core ships = Mark V ships.  So having Mark III Mark V ships doesn't make much sense to me. :)
He means that it would only fabricate core versions of ships that you've already researched, like you can only build mkIV ships that you've researched the mkIII versions of.

That means both, as internally they are the same effect.  Sorry about the strategy there!  It was definitely an overpowered situation, though.

Yeah I don't mind the change. Because now I don't "have to have" munition boosters at the start and can focus on some more fun 'interactive' ships instead.

Still, I will miss my massive turret domes all with x5 power.  :D

Though I do think it should work with starships. I kinda liked used the beginner starships as turret boosters (while being a decent turret themselves). They are so massive it's impossible to abuse.

Thanks. It saves just a little bit of space when you place units like that, which really benefits when using munition boosters.

Now that the bonus is gone I can go back to the old tactic, ie: "Control Shift Click-click-click". Which really isn't all that bad since it now saves me time and adds a more random/less structured feel to the game. Afterall, who cares about space effeciency in.... "space".

Hmm... I really doubt there is any difference between the two starship types -- I suspect the difference would be between the turret types, if that's what it is.  The munitions boosting ability is just one thing that all the starships toggle on, but the immunity to that is turned on per-turret.  What type of turrets are still receiving the bonuses?

Mark II Missle turrets for sure.

Maybe some others as well but can't say for sure. I'll test it some more when my friend and I continue playing.
