Would you like me to do handle some of the posting over on the Facebook page, if that helps (hopefully I would know how to go on about that)?

If you'd like to, that would be really awesome.  I've set you up as an admin for both the Arcen and AI War pages on Facebook.  Thanks so much for that, and what you do with the official Steam group -- that's really such a huge help!

I am glad, for as a pheasant, you have done many a great upon me, and this is the least I may serve for you, sire.

Okay, fine, that was late at night.  ::)

I think someone else might have observed this, but there alot more ion cannons seeding around the galaxy these days; I'm frequently seeing two cannons seeding on one planet.

Yes, the new higher-level ion cannons are seeded independently from the lower-tier ones.  Might need to look at the balance on that, but we won't be able to do that for a couple of weeks.  For potential balance issues, I'd suggest reporting those in the bug reports forum if you want us to actually remember them when we come out on the other end of this porting process. ;)

Thanks!

No worries, not like I've never done it.  Just thought it was funny.  :D

Many thanks!  Not quite there yet, but hopefully any day now!  :)

No, Unity iPhone supports iphone and ipad, and is a separate product with a separate supported platform (i.e. roughly .NET 1.1 instead of roughly 2.0) ;)  Thankfully, the next version of Unity iPhone is, to our knowledge, getting updated to a newer version of mono (the .NET equivalent) so we can actually use all those generic types in our code, etc.

The other issue is whether Apple will approve a Unity game under TOS 4.0; we can't tell until we actually submit a product for approval and if they say no we lose our investment in making that product for their platform.  We have some tentative plans to try that for a fairly small upcoming project, and if that works out we could look at a version of Tidalis for the iPad at least (it actually has a decent max resolution) and go from there :)  AI War on either platform sounds a bit unlikely to me, honestly, but we don't know what the future holds for the hardware, etc.

I love my iPhone4, but there's just no way it could run AI War.  ;)

I suppose an iPad might be able to, but that would be a lot of porting work to get touch controls in there, and I don't think the game would play all that well with it.  And even there, I doubt the processor would be enough for the main thread plus the AI thread, etc. :)

I can't see the A4 in the iPad handling the 12k ship battle i had the other day, but I thought I would raise the question.  I am certainly interested, and I would certainly buy AI War again on the iPad, but I understand the limitations of the platform.

I would love to see Tidalis on the iPad, please feel encourage to pursue that.

Looking forward to all the updates and cross platform support.  Thanks guys!

I believe Apple's stock market price would immediately be in excess if AI War could be played on their hardware.  :)

Yeah, that's pretty much the situation for the moment.

That's a distinct possibility for sometime next year.  And "Alden Ridge Arcade" is something I plan to look at for the iPhone, iPad, and Android all at once for this fall, hopefully.  I'm pleased about that, and not as pessimistic about Apple's TOS as I once was (and as Keith still is).

Looking forward to all the updates and cross platform support.  Thanks guys!

You bet!  Thanks for your support!

(Also, I hope you don't find it rude that I am using "us, our, etc." in my Facebook/etc. posts, "ie. please check our forums", "our music composer"...)

Not at all.  Again, much appreciated.

Take no offence, but I avoid all Apple products as much as I can ;P;P;P (HTC ftw)

However, I am a Norwegian dude, and Apple, while kind of big over here, is not the same as US :)

But nice update as always :)

I can't stand Apple either (and I'm in the US, for what that's worth) but I don't see the harm in Arcen expanding the available platforms on which their games can run. More money for them -> more AI War (and other games) for us Windows users.  ;D I also figure this porting business may make it much easier to get their games running under Linux, which would be a nice bonus.

By no means do I think its bad to expand to OSX and Mac! :) Quite the opposite actually :)

If AI war would run on Linux... that would be superb! :D

Well, the Unity engine is based on Mono rather than .NET if I understand right. This means it should run on Linux just fine - though it may take a bit of tweaking (as per usual for running non native games on Linux :) )
