If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*
If you really want to get into DF, and it's just the initial learning curve and graphics putting you off, then I highly recommend these tutorials. http://afteractionreporter.com/2009/02/09/the-complete-and-utter-newby-tutorial-for-dwarf-fortress-part-1-wtf/They link to a package of the game bundled with a graphics upgrade pack, and are great to learn the game from. I did a couple of weeks back, and am completely addicted. Bear in mind that it is not for the most recent version, but a good place to learn the basics. You can upgrade afterwards, pick a new tileset, add the isometric visualiser (look up stonesense) and replace Dwarf Manager (that it tells you to get in the tutorials) with the newer Dwarf Therapist.Sorry for the off-topic stuff... The prerelease is good, I'm having fun with it (when not building a fortress).
Wow, THANK You.. i never heard of Dwarf Therapist before. Though, its not hooking up the gameworld display in its own windows right? Because what i really need/want is full mouse control ,p
See the notes here about why this wasn't an official: http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,6056.0.htmlRegarding the knowledge raiding, that wasn't an exploit by nature, but people were using it exploitatively. We suggested brushing once or twice daily, and people were using brillo pads 20x per day until their gums bled, basically. At any rate, that's something you can still do, but it's harder (and less necessary) now.
