Isn't now more easier to bait snipers into firing their shot and then going out and attacking since their reload time is pretty long? I know not useful at all for full scale attacks but transport raiding can easily outsmart it just like lighting turrets (wait for it to attack, take use of the 10 second reload time and  destroy lightning turret, profit) of course it doesn't make a difference unless the planet's filled with sniper turrets.

They are instant soooo  :o

And why would you bait lightning turrets they're horrible anyway?

insta kill or lots of health reduction to mass amount of ships in 1 hit , steer away from those like it's a ION CANNON.

honestly with snipers baiting isnt incredibly effective, as it will still take a while to move to get to the sniper - with lightning turrets, the range is so small it doesnt matter.

I am kinda interested in what will happen with sniper units - are they suddenly useful? snipers vs sentinel frigates, are snipers even a unit to be used?

Also, are sentinel frigates effected by the ammo change? I think itd be cool if they had a nice sized railgun ammo shot instead of the energy wave thingie.. (havnt tried, checking now)
sentinel frigates are 1500 dps.. looks like 1 sniper is 15 dps.. (60 sec reload.. ugh..) of course, shipcap is 180ish for snipers, but you can only have 110% of a sentinel frigate per system.

So in terms of single-system damage, snipers win, but sentinels are more useful in a strategic scale.. and cheaper/more survivable..

you can't say it's not useful, seeing that it has 30 reload time, much longer than the lighting turrets, giving you ample time to stay in the "danger zone" before going back to planet or hopping back to transport, seeing it also does a lot more damage everytime, sniper baiting is extremely useful if it has a lot of snipers.
