How about it has a few layers similar to todays armor and packaging, each that absorbs a certain wave, so when the light hits the bulk of armor, the top layer deflects most, middle layers sucks it up and another layer that deflects?

You fail to understand the power of a railgun. Even if you could pack enough armor, it would only stop a couple hits.

I think that the anti-sniper contains and uses some form of black-hole device to suck up the railgun shots without damaging anything else in the area.

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Now if you suggested the shots enter a perpetual orbit... That would work.  But they won't slow down.

Perhaps the counter sniper turrets need a fuzzy cloud around them to represent the many whizzing sniper shots flying about in a frenzied cloud.  ;D

alternatively, its a supercomputer with a set of rapid-fire railguns of its own that tracks all railgun ammo nearby and launches a slug of enough mass on an intercept vector to counter the forward velocity of the approaching slug, leaving the rest to drift (semi-)harmlessly away in space

force field stopping?


how about it has a decoy that it can afford to smash, and attracts it to the decoy, while generating infinite decoys?

or when 2 shots come at the same time, they smash together and doing no harm.


or counter sniper turret dies everytime when it get's sniped ,but resurrecting itself with no cost

Good point. This also works with the existing animation of the counter sniper turret.

Point singularity projectors... back in the old days of andromeda, one of the fancier weapons was a psp. Basically, a small black hole launched towards a hostile. Of course, it keeps going... and going.. and going.. etc etc :p (see above ME2 link)

But really, it working similar to anti-ballistics weapons today is probably more likely. It could also be a laser pulse that destroys the railgun ammo... lasers would require slightly less computational tracking... Would explain the short range though (as distance goes up, area goes up at the square...) so too large an area and all the calculations might be hard.


I digress. Basically, it shoots down railgun ammo. do we need more technobabble?

i meant a flare that makes the railgun chase the flare not the turret itself. like anti lock on flares.

They don't "chase" things for starters.
