The official 3.120 version is now out through your in-game updater.  I'll be doing a full news post and posting links to the manual patch, full installer files, etc, etc, shortly. :)

I dont have it listed in my updater. or am i being dumb?

Is the version number in the top left hand corner 3.120?

Recognizing the battles would be nice, and is doable (albeit complex), but would be pretty tricky to get enough sanity checks so that it doesn't do silly things.  Even with a lot of work, y'all would basically have to deal with it not realizing that the battle was over despite the 100 cloaked raptors you tucked away in some outer corner, etc.
Oh don't worry, because anyone who's played Armada had to deal with that (that would be like what, me? ;) ). Regarding fixing that, why not just look for concentrations of fire (like 100+ shots/second from one or both sides) and call them battles that end when the shots die down? It might result in a bunch of battles every time you take a planet (as opposed to one), but that is actually slightly more realistic (battling for each guard post).
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

Ok... So the manual updater doesnt find the patch and when I download the manual patch and try to update it like that it says:

An error occurred while downloading a file.
  Could not find file 'C:\Program Files\Indie Games\AI War\Updates\AIWar\Director.Xml'.

I never deleted anything...?

What can i do? I want the official update ^^

Not sure what that would do, it would create at best a battle for each planet so it would be fairly easy to separate that, but on the other hand, might become *really* spammy.

Maybe it should only count battles on worlds III and above or that have special features. And those than as "global battle on that planet" ie, all stats of all battles on that planet together = 1 battle over that planet.

Well, some degree of minimal-intensity filter would be good, but the data collection could actually be pretty thorough, and the procedural piece can just skim off the most interesting records.  "It was the 37th Battle of Delta Serpentis that finally brought liberty to that system's inhabitants... well, those that were left." ;)

Gah, the forums stopped notifying me about this thread, sorry I missed this.  A few notes:

1. This 3.120 version was an official release, so you'd see nothing under the beta section, but just info on the official section in the updates tab.  Seems to be working fine, but if you're used to looking for the beta I guess it could be easy to overlook.

2. The manual patch this time was just a zip file containing the patch contents, so you did the right thing by just unzipping that.  I should have created a literal manual patch, but I forgot about the need to do.  The Tidalis process is so much better, and I can't wait to have that ready for AI War in a few months.

Well, the interesting / hard part, at least to me, would be not finding out the final moment where a system changed hands,  but identifying the close calls, or mad scrambles to defend your homeworld by pulling forces back from 9 systems away just to stay alive, that kind of thing.  I'm not sure what sort of test could be found to find these, but I'd think that at least for the player, those were the TRULY memorable fights.

Before I download the update can anyone tell me if it will mess up my save game like alot of games updates do? If it invalidates my saves I'll want to finish my current game before geting the patch.

Saves are backwards compatible. I'm still running saves from 2.0 and I think the devs might even test with saves from 1.xxx. With the rapid rate of updates of this game, backwards compatbility for saves is very important.
