To my knowledge Chris is still intending to release it today.

Yes, it's just that splitting up the release notes and getting them ready for release is something like a 3-4 hour job, when the release notes are of this size.  Fun stuff!

If i may ask boldly, i hope the epilogue is not hardcoded! ;) (Meaning localization hopefully includes data variables that can be moved in the text - so that numbers can be sorted differently etc.)

Shouldn't you have an amateur doing that while you focus on creating sentience?

Well, we're shortstaffed, what can I say?

The strings are localized, if that's what you mean :)

The pieces are literal strings, stored in journal.xml; they are used by the procedural code which generates the entry at the time of victory.  Right now it doesn't have a lot of content as I've been occupied with other stuff, but it has some interesting info, and a bit of flavor text at the beginning.  Definitely going to include more procedurally-aggregated narrative in the future, but the initial goal of something much more substantial than "You Win!" has been achieved :)

Seeing as I have yet to win a game  ::) .... I hope someone will post a video of the ending credits showing off the improvements, so I can properly appreciate Keith's labors.

Procedurally-aggregated narrative sounds quite nice.... especially if we could somehow identify significant battles / close calls / valiant defenses / last ditch suicide attempts to save the universe as we know it , determine a name for them --- "Battle of the long knives" style, and have some sort of text for them, along with stats for that particular fight  (along with stats for the entire game).

While I'm at it, I'd like world peace, and a winning powerball ticket.

It's nothing impressive right now, just a box with a bunch of text, but it's a step in the right direction.

Recognizing the battles would be nice, and is doable (albeit complex), but would be pretty tricky to get enough sanity checks so that it doesn't do silly things.  Even with a lot of work, y'all would basically have to deal with it not realizing that the battle was over despite the 100 cloaked raptors you tucked away in some outer corner, etc.

More focused on lower-hanging fruit like whether there's a dyson sphere, whether you freed it, whether you then enslaved it for yourself, what happened to each rebel human colony and captive human settlement, how many planets you captured, how many planets you nuked, etc.

Incidentally, for anyone who cares I am just sticking with the existing MSI installer for AI War for now.  The new Bitrock stuff we're using for Tidalis is far better in terms of both installer and updater, but that will have to be integrated into AI War when we have time for it.  Most likely as part of our conversion of AI War to Unity in July.  Right now I thought I'd just save the time instead, though.

The official 3.120 version is now out through your in-game updater.  I'll be doing a full news post and posting links to the manual patch, full installer files, etc, etc, shortly. :)

Are there any changes between 3.117 and 3.120? I don't see a new thread for that version, just the news post.

EDIT: wait nevermind i found it hiding in the news section. Still are there any changes between 3.117 and 3.120?

There are a few changes, which might now be clear:

- A couple of journal fixes.
- Another really rare music crash fix.
- The networking fixes discussed in the tech support forum.
