I remember with some old games that used, at least what i thought was GDI for their main menu/popup (Infantry made by harmless games / taken over by Sony) I had to disable the Dock and/or AERO in order to get it working properly.  Otherwise it would do wonky things.

Another small nit. When I go to the Tutorial, it says "All campaigns are procedurally generated". Would more than 5% of the tutorial audience have a clue what this means?

Hmm, I don't know.  I could say "randomly," but that's misleading.  I believe I've seen "procedurally" used in marketing copy for other games, but I couldn't say for sure.

Proceedurally is filtering into normal gamer vocabulary. Spore was really the beginning of the term, and it has grown substantually.

Please, use it. It is the best description.

I had this same thing happen to me a few prereleases ago and I never could figure out what caused it. As I recall, I had to restart the entire game (simply reloading the save again didn't do it) but then it went away and never came back. I didn't worry about it too much as I couldn't reproduce it. Perhaps someone will eventually stumble across the trigger for it.

Did nobody read my Edit? It was a stuck ship! :)

It doesn't do wonky things, just doesn't load the Spash Screen. Every single other aspect of the game works fine, so I think I can deal with it, lol

I did read your edit :) That was one of my guesses as to what caused it in my game, but I never could locate the source (I might have just overlooked the ship somewhere). Since restarting the game seems to resolve it, there must be something that causes the game to get into that state on rare occasions.
