Autorouting produced ships to a different planet?
« on: August 21, 2009, 09:27:54 am »
I did search, honest. I found one question about mixing move/attack/wormhole orders, but nothing quite specifically on my question.

This is a complete newb question I'm sure, but I can't figure it out. I've got a space dock on planet A producing ships. I want those autorouted to a point on planet X which is a couple hops away. How do I do this? I figured out I can autoroute into a wormhole in the initial planet, but I can't figure out how to continue routing them from there.

Hi ckessel,

Welcome to the forum.

To automate that process, select your space dock, press tab to switch to galaxy view, and then right click the planet you'd like the produced ships to head to.

Hope this helps.

Have fun playing AI War.

EDIT: I apologize for not reading your post carefully enough, you can't order ships to head to a specific point on another planet. When you set a waypoint to another planet, the ships will stop at the wormhole they arrive through.

Welcome to the forums!

Rev is exactly right on that.  Bear in mind that you cannot route your ships to a specific point on a different planet when you are moving between planets -- they always come out at the exit of the last wormhole and wait there.  This is the nature of reinforcements, and is by design.  If you want faster frontline support, then you should build some docks right on the enemy planet with potentially some counter-sniper turrets and/or force fields.  That sort of beachhead will keep your docks alive, and you optimally supplied, but it is more difficult to maintain if the battle is a hard one.

What you can also do if you are trying to defensively reinforce a planet is hold down V and right click a planet on the planet map... this should make them come out the wormhole ready to track down anything on the other side once they get there.

Wow, multiple space docks on 5 different planets constantly producing a stream of ships into designated groups flying 2 wormholes away to an AI system and going auto-attack on arrival... not the most efficient, but very cool ;)

I asked the same exact thing some time ago and the next day (well, almost) there was a pre-release with the feature in it. :)
