thats a tricky one. perhaps instead allow mines to hit ships in a small area around it, so any uber dense formations take a serious hit?. After all, any competent commander would be sure to extend their minefield into the pseudo z-axis ;)

That way you can still move ships through friendly sectors ok, but theres a deterrent to moving en masse into enemy territory through a small gap.

Actually, since darke's ships will spread out once they go through the wormhole, they are likely to take as much damage from mines as anyone else's.  The only thing he's really protecting against is... well, I'm not really sure.  I guess it makes the early ships take a bit less conventional turret/ship fire.  But the lightning attacks pretty much prevent me from wanting to use that tactic.

Ya, I love clumping units, the engine seems to work the same as the SC engine. You can clump as many units as you like, up to 500+ if you know what you're doing :P.

I think it's useful when you're going through wormholes, so that all your ships appear at once ;D
