2 Homeworld start?

Well, i grabbed the game a week or so ago, and so far i'm loving it. Was able to persuade a few friends to play a game, and in the lobby i noticed at one point that one of them seemed to have 2 starting locations. Well, i decided maybe my screen was wrong, and we started the game.

Anyway, turns out somehow he managed to start with 2 systems as homeworld, with the bonus ships of each, and a homeworld command station in each.
Just thought id check if its a bug, or, eh, a 'feature' as yet undocumented. :P

I'll attach a save game from near the start, and if you need another, i have one or two from further in.
We're using V 1.009.

Hi Monilas,

Welcome to the forums, and glad to hear you are enjoying the game!

As to the dual-homeworlds thing, that is definitely a bug, and quite an odd one.  I've not heard of that one before, I'm not sure how he managed it.  I'll definitely check that out and try to prevent it, and at the very least I'll put in some checks in the start-game logic that will make him deselect one of them before starting.  Thanks for the note!

Was chatting to him there, apparently once he changed his mind, changing homeworld from raider to raptor, and on his screen it had only the new selection. On my end, as host, it was showing 2 planets selected by him, so perhaps the issue is in there somewhere.

Still, the bonuses offset the drawbacks, as its two home command stations to defend, and without knowing the logic behind it, he'll have to defend both stations or potentially end up losing. :D

Awesome, thanks for the extra info.  That does indeed sound like the root cause, and it will help me to find and fix it.  And yes, he'll have double starting incomes and obviously extra ship capacity, but if he loses either one of those home command stations, he'll count as "HOME LOST." :D

Why not make it a single-player option to play more than one homeworld?

Why not make it a multi-player option to allow one player to play multiple homeworlds?

It ramps up the difficulty on the single player while allowing interesting tactics to be explored...

You know, I was thinking along the same lines, more recently.  That really is pretty interesting.  It gives you an economic boost at the start, but in exchange for much more weakness in other ways.
