Tips on Using Minimap?
« on: July 07, 2009, 10:37:02 pm »
Hey folks,
Just paid for my official version of AI War (woohoo!) and am really getting into it.  I've found the minimap to be helpful but also find it very tough to view in the midst of action.  Is there a way to make it larger?  Warlords IV had this nifty feature where you could press a hotkey and it would grow the size of the minimap incrementally.  So if you wanted to see more detail you could but conversely you could keep it small and tucked out of the way.

Hey there, thanks for your support of the game!  That's a great idea about growing the minimap incrementally -- I've added that to my to-do list.

For now, you might be interested in the F5, F6, and F7 buttons to help with the minimap:

Minimap Shortcuts:
-------------------------
F5 (hold):   Show military ships only
F6 (hold):   Show wormholes and resources only
F7 (hold):   Show enemy ships only

Also, you might like the "Allow Very Far Zoom" and "Allow Overzoom" options in the game settings, since those let you get way out there to see everything at once.  If it is taking too long to get out there, you can also adjust the zoom speed.

I like the "Show Enemy" mode. Helps to pick off those annoying raiders. :)
