Potentialbug with munitions boosting

Hello,

My light starships are not always boosting all units around them. I remember that there were some limitations for munition boost - are they supposed to limit number of boosted ships at once?

It happens with small 200 unit fleet with 5 light starships. Save attached - on planet Brunickini there are few frigates that are not munitions boosted.

Also it seems that munition boost range is not displayed properly for light starships.

Yes, when we switched to the current system there was a theoretical (but generally not practical) cap on the amount of ships that a given booster could boost at one time; much more recently Chris lowered that more into the practical range though it is still rather high.

So 5 light starships should boost 200 other ships fully or not?

It looks weird in that save since few not boosted ships look like random ones from the fleet.

I guess that larger starships have larger ship boosts caps and range?

If the solid circle that displays when you use Z is the boost range then it's much smaller than actual boost range.

Oh, I think I misunderstood the original question.  One of the restrictions added a while ago was that a ship can only receive one munitions boost at once, so even if you cover a fleet in light starships they won't boost any single ship to more than 120%.

You understood correctly.

I was a bit puzzled by the fact that light starship boosts about 20 ships and thats it. another 20 or so near it didn't receive any boost at all.

In that save the frigate formation on Brunickini showssomething like that.

If thats the limit then I guess there is no bug ;)

Well, it's probably a lot closer to 40, because 5 light starships can cover 198 fighters, and 4 can very nearly cover them.  But yea, the finiteness is intentional :)

I miss the good old (completely unbalanced and broken) days of getting munitions boosters and having zbeamfrigates firing at 5x damage boosts. It was like having your own space-death multi-lazer that could cut a swath through anything you could see.

Yes, quite a lot of us miss that.  And deep-knowledge-raiding the entire galaxy before supply existed :)

*puts on the nostalgia goggles* And power generators that didn't have an upkeep cost, being able to build an entire fleet out of the income of just one system and keep it kept up.

I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

You know, all you have to do is put in the desired replacements for \AIWar\Images\Ships\ColonyShip\*.png , \AIWar\Images\GalaxyView\Colony\*.png , and \AIWar\Images\Buy\ColonyShip.png , and it should work fine.  Just make sure they're the same size or it won't rotate right.
