i actually kinda like the way the early version of the forcefield looks.. you can see the ship clearly rather than having it blurred, and the way the alpha interacts with the rotation (I guess?) gives it a nifty sort of shimmer.

I tried it in game and it has a similar effect as when I bumped up the base alpha value it was using, it shows much more dramatically but has a bit of a purple "bleed" around it from some kind of blending or other.  I'll need to see about just handling the render differently for these and see if it will help.  Of course, there are overlap-behavior reasons for the current blending so it may be more complex than that.

Having tried various local versions of the same PNG I can't counter the in-game FF post-process effect - they all end up looking washed out and nasty.  If there is any way to stop the standard FF post-process taking place on SFF then I'd recommend using the original SFF PNG and not the revised one posted above.  If the PNG can be displayed in native format the orignal SFF PNG has the proper opacity to ensure that the ship PNG under it isn't obscured.

For 3.035:

-Ship-based forcefield (Riot starship's forcefield generator using I-KP's graphics) now does not use the same transparent blending as normal forcefields, to prevent the washed out look.

It now looks a lot better, though you'll need to tell me when you see it in action if it's really what you were going for.  I've attached an in-game picture.  The field is still centered on the module and not the ship; not entirely sure I want to change it (because if I move it visually it will be out of sync with the "real" are covered by the forcefield, unless I move that too which means still more code that needs to care about modularity, etc).

You've cracked it!  Nice one.  Looks lovely (apart from the visible shield generator sprite which looks horrible in this context - understand fully that this is just a placeholder graphic for now).   ;D

Marked for death isn't it.  (All of the structures being remade in Render style, no?)

Not real soon, but eventually, yes.  I can't spare Phil's time from Tidalis at the moment.
