Bomber starships: Their DPS is fine; its pretty good even by starship standards. My main problem is their health. For a close range unit, they don't seem all that terribly durable. Even the Plasma Siege Starship has more HP than these (though, admittedly, bomber starships have armor). A health buff or possibly a large radar dampening range. (Remember, larger radar dampening means less effective radar dampening). Slight (like, 1.5 slight) hull multipliers similar to the bomber fleet ship may be nice for thematic reasons. I'm fine with their  "large stuff only" restriction.

Do people in general have problems with bomber starships?  I think they're doing well as they are now; I think of them as something you have to use carefully but they're a great go-to when you need big stuff taken down.

I tried to make it clear with the tone of my entry on them, but I guess I failed.

The bomber starships are mostly fine. I'm mostly happy with it.
It is just a bit jarring that they have less HP than plasma siege starships.

My only problem with Bomber Starships is they keep getting themselves killed when they have nothing to attack.  If I could fix them, I'd make them "Shy":

When set on Attack-Move with a group of other ship types, they act like they are group-moved with the next fastest ship type you have selected

You could still get them to charge ahead by either Attack-Moving them as a separate group or directly targeting an enemy.  So if you click a Guard Post, they go all out, racing ahead of your fleet.  If you Attack-Move a Guard Post, they'll be at the front, but won't suicide ahead.

Basically, space planes have a radar dampening range less than their weapon range, allowing them to hit stuff without stuff being able to hit back. This allows them to win some really silly match-ups against stationary targets.

That's their whole point. At least I thought it was. Think it is.

Are plasma sieges supposed to be really weak still or did that change in the last renaming/re-imagining? I lose track.
