Planets alerted without obvious reasons

I'm not sure this is a bug, or just my crappy understanding of my game mechanics, but occasionally, it appears planets that have no reason to do so will become alerted to my presence. Attached is a screenshot of my current game. The encircled systems are alerted, but I can't see a proper reason for it.

EDIT: The ships at the P3 planet neighboring Murdoch is just scouts.

That means that some sort of minor faction that is hostile to the AI is there -- a Dyson Sphere, the devourer, a rebel colony, something.

Does the Devourer actually count as alerting the AI?  Because that's some serious Zapp Brannigan thinking by the AI right there...

Yes, it does.  And actually, the AI is capable of killing the devourer, though it doesn't do so often.

It's a giant machine that heals itself by destroying small combat vessels.

The AI's solution:

"Exceeding [its] kill limit by sending wave after wave of [machines] to be killed by them"

The Devourer is a machine of utter death to mobile combat units.  Once they get into range and the autotargeting gets past the edge case of only having a few in-range to shoot at, it will generally start killing things at a rate of 40 per second, all the while healing itself.  Not to mention its shields are strong enough to stop most normal fire.

Yeah, it's a bloody monster. Judging from the picture above, I'd say whatever is causing the alert is at Murdoch, seeing as it's only the systems around Murdoch that are alerted.

Only way that devourer may die is a huuuge turrets concentration on AI worlds when there are no mobile units around. This can happen since when reinforcing some of AI's use turrets extensively so in a way Devourer is preparing a grave for himself... albeit very slowly
