Planetary cloaker
« on: March 01, 2011, 06:34:22 am »
I've encountered a planet with a planetary cloaker. As such all ships and structures on that planet are invisible. However in the right hand summary there is a listing for cloaked units (a circle). When hovering over that with the mouse it gives me the types of ships that are cloaked and how many of them there are present. Is this intended? Because I'd expect that the planetary cloaker is meant to hide that information from the player.

it been said that cloaking doesn't hide existence of ships only it location. so yes it intended to know how many ships are there, in fact if you can get an scout on planet before alerting planet i sometimes seen Ai have it turned of dn if it still exsist since patches but it real good feature fore PC  as why have it on all time when it an drain LOLS
AI War - even the smallest units can make all the difference no matter how weak they are still quite capable of taking the hits. if it can Kill and receive damage then it worth its time other wise if it cant kill and cant take the damage for the higher surviving ships then it is worthless.

It does make you wonder why cloaked mobile units show up in the summary while cloaked guard posts will not. Is there a balance reason for this? Because at the moment it tends to lead to a whole lot of bug reports about AI Eyes not dying when it's a cloaked guard post keeping it up.

Posts also show up, they at least do in my games.

About Eyes, if you still havent "read" this (let alone experienced it ingame), take an AI-planet, kill the CC (and only the CC), place one of your own ... see what happens...

Some of the guard posts die and some of them don't and no one can figure out why this happens?

You can make it happen. When there are no AI ships inactive near a post/under a shield they seem to say poof, not sure if that is a requirement but as long as I play it like that it does seem to work .. all the time. And you can always nuke your own CC and try again :)

I believe the hover over text for the "cloaked unit sidebar icon" revealing ship types is currently a bug. However, it giving the total number of cloaked ships is intended behavior.
