Pretty much exactly the same idea occurred to me :)

But basically the recent change is that we backported the stuff that fixed the pony-addition in AVWW.  AIW never suffered from it really, but I wouldn't expect the antidote to cause the disease.

But, as we learned in the thread you linked, a predictable reality and ATI cards sometimes have nothing to do with one another.

A few weeks ago I finally bought a dedicated GPU.

Its a passively cooled cheap ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series. 512 mb that will never break for 30 dollars sounds good to me.

I've yet to noticed anything "bad" happen, but its hard to judge since even an inefficient dedicated graphics card is better then none at all.

EDIT: To this very day, once in a blue moon I mentally chuckle and think "ponies". All the better they relate in this case.

Ah yes, ponies.  The bane of my existence.  I watched so many MLP videos during AVWW beta.

I've seen some pretty incredible "I must have entered the Twilight Zone without noticing it" bugs in enterprise db/web programming, but I think the ATI ponies may well take the cake.

Some of the other bugs were actually stranger when I got to the bottom of them, but none of them appeared that strange.

Actually never mind. I just tested the game with a bigger fleet and it's almost unplayable. Putting ships in Transporters "fixes" the lag.

I had tons of ships on screen when it was lagging badly. Also I had some stuff running in the background so maybe that slowed down my comp too. BUT.. the game does seem to be a bit laggier than before.

@Kahuna: I'm getting pretty awful performance in that save too, even on the galaxy map.  Do you happen to have any saves from 5.041 or earlier that exhibit similar problems when loaded in 5.042+?  If so I could load those in 5.041 and see if they still had the slowdown there and if not start isolating what changes caused this.

Attached a save,

The battle at Lesekash where i have around 1000 units is quite choppy.

Having just tested the hotfix i noticed improved performance during the gameplay but still gets a bit choppy when i hold shift and give multiple orders and it didn't do that before. Much better than the last beta version though.
