Paused game ?

I am new to this and so far I have played solo and end up with a paused game I do not know how to get out of or why?  I have been on google for a fix and it states energy levels and they were showing fine, also add  a matter thingy but while in paused I cannot do anything except try again?

Any hep on this would be great as it looks like a cool game to play?

I checked ingame and to toggle the pause, you can either press the "Pause" button (above the PageUp/PageDown buttons) or press the letter "P".

Thanks all sorted now I found in settings that you can take pause out completely.

The wrath lance would really appreciate the removal of the pause button.
