I still think these posts are only trying to build link farms. The first results in google when you search for foot pains are pretty suspect too.

This reminds me.. its pretty damn near impossible to tell nowadays whether a search result leads you to a legit online shop or a scam-shop. I have even given up searching products of any kind on google (not just on google, search engines in general) (unless its highly specific stuff and I look for reviews)

What google needs is a another rating besides page rank. a Trust rating. ;D Which is community sourced and links to a small sub-page with comments for a search result. That way you could see "comments" on search results IN the search... why google doesn't do that yet is beyond me.

You can game almost any system. An infinite number of underpaid workers on an infinite number of keyboards can eventually write any sort of good comments on anything. And also the complete works of Shakespeare.

There is actually an extension somewhere, I think for Firefox, that lets you do that.

That extension would be Web of Trust. Not to sound like an adbot, but it is pretty nice when used in conjunction with NoScript. Then again, maybe I am just paranoid.  ;D

Anyhow, more on topic, I was kinda' hoping that these foot pains would claim to be made from unobtanium but would really be made of lead or nickel.

Mhh Web Of Trust sounds interesting but the obvious problem seems to be that "fans" of 1 site boost its rankings and down rank others.. I guess i had more a "closed rating" kind of thing in mind.

The reason i say that is that i put in some (less legal) sites where you can easily get trojans and thus rats or viruses and they were ranked green. So this doesn't work how i want it (for less computer inclined people, having such a thing give a false green light might even be more dangerous than having no indication at all)
