Oh no, another zenith power generator
« on: March 29, 2015, 02:31:14 pm »
I don't understand why the zenith power generators aren't placed with the fabricators and other things but are usually at the worst possible undefendable places. Any ideas? Second time this game I choose not to take a planet with 2 fabricators because it also has a zenith power generator that i can't possibly defend, and I can't afford the extra AIP for losing them either since I bumped the difficulty pretty high.

Well, with the Zenith power gen, you actually can afford to defend it by sacrificing a bit of the power it is giving you and put some extra caps of turrets on that strategic sweet spot. If you don't need the power at all ( which seems unlikely at higher diff), then you can just take the AIP hit, its not that bad. There are usually plenty of ways to reduce AIP ...and if so, then just try to deepstrike a bit more rather than take more planets.

If you've got the HAP, you could always hack those fabs and then you'd only have to worry about guarding the lovely ZPG.  With how much of a boost to the energy economy it is, might be worth it unless you've got your hacking use already booked full.
