Oh Lightning Starship.. y u so weak

Lightning Starships are kind of weak:
40*200=8000 damage
5 second reload time
Ship cap of 2 = 3200 cap dps.

The 150000 cap health is fine.

Well at least these things are faster than Missile Frigates so they can fly away.

For comparison:
Fighters have 5670 cap dps and 158400 cap health.
Electric Shuttles have 3840 cap dps and 102720 cap health.

I'm happy to buff them.  I suspect they didn't get a lot of attention during the beta, since they functioned as described and there were other more interesting sources of !!fun!!. 

Straight damage boost, perhaps?

Can we have a way to turn off specifically lightning starships's lightning animation? Or some some much softer lightning?

It's fine on turrets as most defenses are statics, but when maneuvering the main fleet (ie: starship speed into which the lightning generally are), it becomes visually aggravating.

(Especially with multiple homeworlds)

The Reduce Visual Stimulation toggle will disable it (after a restart, anyhow), but it disables a lot of other animation type stuff too.

To disable just that one thing:

1) In your AIW directory, go to RuntimeData/Images/Explosions/
2) Rename LightningBall to something else (like OldLightningBall or whatever, so the game won't find it)
3) Copy (don't rename) ReducedVisLightningBall, then rename the copy to LightningBall

I was never impressed with Electric Shuttles, so I think I'd ignore it too. They just didn't seem to do enough damage (long time since I tried them mind you), few too many things were immune to them, and their habit of closing to point blank range and getting killed when they could have hung back at max range and been fine.

During the beta, I played two games with them.  That's exactly what they are - tougher, larger, Electric Shuttles.  They fall right in line with other starships damage wise (More HP, less DPS than the fleetship equivalents), and I ended up with the same feeling using them as using Electric Shuttles.

They aren't BAD, per-se, but it is really hard to quantify their usefulness.  The only time they were racking up kills for me was when they were fighting off hordes of Mime drones.  Unfortunately, I think that because it is the awkwardness rather than the damage, raising their DPS probably won't help much in getting the Lightning Starship to be popular.

Maybe if the shiptype stats could be upgraded to record damage as well as kills, it'd be easier to understand?
