Its ok , just have to make do with 3.015 for a while. Steam has been acting rather oddly for the past few weeks anyway - might have to uninstall and just install the GamersGate copy instead, the Steam Achievments are nice and all but not needed; plus with the GG install I don't have to wait so long for full updates.

Well, 3.017 has everything in it that 3.016 did, so that should work.  I think that you just didn't wait long enough for that beta update to show up in the updates menu -- beta updates in Steam are no different than in the copy from anywhere else, only the official updates are different (and since we then put out the beta patches so quickly after, you really miss very little anyway, because the next beta patch is probably cumulative -- it is in this case).  Not advocating against GamersGate by any stretch (they are great also).

Oh I understand what you mean, but it seems like the game updater will not see 3.017 pre-release if 3.016 [official] isn't installed (maybe something with the updater code?). The main thing I meant about GamersGate is that I can get official updates via the in game updater quicker than waiting for steam (in this case at least). I will give Steam a while longer to get out 3.016, I am not having any critical flaws with 3.015.

No, I promise you, they are unrelated.  I just tested it, and it was working for me.  What happens if you click Start Manual Check For Updates in the updater tab?  If that's not working, it's not because of your version number not being 3.016.

*sigh* sorry for bugging you X - figures that I load it up after reading your last post here and guess what? 3.016 Official update is showing available along w/ 3.017 beta. My brain must be coming up with things to drive me nuts, Steam has been giving me problems so I guess I have been transposing it onto the game. Sorry for that, the sky is nice and whole.
