Missing Guardian images

I've noticed that a few of the Guardian images (namely Laser and Raid) are missing in my install.  They show up as grey squares in the planetary summary to the right and red squares in the main game window.  Mine is a Steam install, so I tried validating the game files, and Steam said 3 files were missing.  Yet, after re-downloading those files, the images are still missing.  Is this Steam's fault or the game's?  Is there any way I could get the missing files?

That's a known issue with the current version of the Steam install; I'm not sure why it does that.  But, if you upgrade to the latest beta (if you want to) through the game itself, it installs those three files.  It also installs the beta of the latest expansion, but you can just disable that if you don't want it.  The next official Steam version (in January) should have this fixed.  Sorry about the confusion!
