Spire Shields and Attritioners, Transports, Scout and Cloaker starships, Nenzui Starships

And that's all for me

If I could ask for the opposite, I'd like to be able to exempt Riot or Raid starships from military selection. Riot starships I like to use for home defense, Raid starships I use for small-scale strikes. It'd be great to not have to de-select them from a group every time I create one.

What I would want, Which was the main idea of my *Fleet Command* suggestion, before I kinda got carried away, Was to have control groups that would automatically re-build ships, when the control groups were on a planet with a factory in that control group.

That way, Control group your whole fleet when you build it, as well as a factory on your main planet (ofc you could share them between groups, but that would require some careful coding)

The other significant points, were that your control groups would also reserve ship caps, so that any other, say, autobuilding factory, would not steal half of it's fighters after they got decimated, but rather reserve them. That way, you could easily replenish your fleet, without much issues, so long as you build the whole fleet, and then control group it.

The reason this pertains to this suggestion, is that the main way people select their fleet, is to drag a box around it, rather than using control groups, because rebinding ships to control groups is takes time, even with the ability to bind factories with that (which adds built ships to the control group automaticalls) since that would still require you to build the right number of ships.

What would be nice would be "exclusive" control groups (or some other name).  Basically any ship put into one of these groups 1) is removed from any other control group and 2) cannot be selected by box selection unless only ships from that control group are box selected.  This would be useful for Raid and Riot Starships, in addition to all the teleporting ships, and a few other specialty units.  It would also be nice if a control group could be "sticky" such that any ships reclaimed automatically are added to a sticky control group if one is present.

#1: Neinzul enclave starships

Also, the converse is sometimes desirable,  I would like decloakers to be selectable by civilians as a toggle - their weapons are largely decorative and really only gets them killed

I don't know. Although exlusive control groups would lead to nice tricks like this, I use "overlapping" control groups sometimes. Like group 1 is my entire attacking force, group 2 is those in that force with high speed, group 3 is those with large range. Something like that can really helpthe occasional micro, but still allow me to treat my force as a whole.

EDIT: Also, the number one way I select all military (regardless of being in a control group or not) is with the ctrl+, shortcut.

The point would be that each control group is either normal or exclusive, which you decide when you create it.  Say by holding down an additional key to make it exclusive.  It wouldn't be a setting in CTRLs to affect all control groups, because you are right, that wouldn't be very useful.

Ah that would make sense. That way you can chose which set of features you want, on a case by case basis.
If this is implemented, could an small little icon appear in the corner of the group button in the side bar if it is exclusive, and remain as is if it is a normal group?

Since the ship selections on the right hand side are hollow circle numbers (above the ship types extant on this planet) perhaps an exclusive selection could be a filled in circle.

Same.  And an Exclusive control group would also need to keep them out of that selection.  Because that's my biggest complaint about teleporters.  I need them in a separate group to keep them controlled properly and so I haven't been able to use ctrl+, much in my current game and that's a pain.

Just to be clear, if Scout Starships are selectable with military units, what happens when I box a group of just Scout fleets ships and a Scout Starship?  Will the fleet ships be ignored since they aren't "military"?  Or is this a special third category of "non-military but select with military"?
FYI, just looked into this: trying to select brave scout starships along with fleet scouts was filtering out the fleet scouts; I've changed it so that the "brave civilian" thing is ignored for that one purpose: filtering out civilians in the rest of the selection.  So it's now a special third category, you could say.

It sounds like at least somebody wants to be able to select nearly every type of non-military ship with military at some time or another ---- as an alternative to creating a huge list of control-menu options, how about adding to the right-click context move menu two options for every ship?  "Toggle select as military for this ship" and "...for this ship type".   Would also be nice to have for military ships, as there are times when you might want not to select them with military --- blade spawners, for example.  Or when you want to leave a defensive fleet on a world you could put them on civilian select and forget about them when you're ordering your main fleet around the world.

EDIT: That would have to come with a button in the Controls panel for "reset all select toggles to default," in case you get totally confused by what you've done.

Sound like what you need is custom script control options

I'm joking of course, but you suggestion does seem a but complicated for a control option.
