Did anyone flesh out the high cap, high range ship type idea I had?
Btw. You should balance the current bonus ships before adding new ones. Quality > quantity.
Agreed...sort of.
Adding new stuff is great and all, but don't forget that the balance is still a bit "unpolished" from the LotS and AS additions. We getting close to a good state, so it would be sad to see that thrown all out of wack by adding a ton of stuff that would take too long to balance before the release date.
IMO, it's not out of wack enough such that we need to "freeze" the types availible until balancing, but it is a bit "unpolished" enough such that too many additions will throw the balance even more out of wack than you could probably deal with before release.

On a more serious note, I hope this expansion focuses more on new mechanics than new units. The new units already introduced in Light of the Spire and Ancient Shadows (woo, spelled "ancient" correctly first time this time ) are still in need of balance polish. Introducing too many new units would just "backpedal" the balance work even more.
Not saying I don't want new units; those are cool and all. But I feel that this shouldn't be the focus of this expansion, so balance isn't disrupted even more than the relatively recently added stuff already has. Then, time spent on keeping things balanced and "polished" can be more productive.
