at the risk of reverting to the topic of OP post, are we likely to get ingame IRC chat? weirdly, I cant think of any feature for AI War that would excite me more.. although maybe I just like idling in IRC chat a little too much

Ok, I don't know a lot about IRC servers.  Or clients, for that matter, but I think I've figured out what I need there for now.  My main question right now is:

Are there any good IRC server implementations that can run on top of IIS 7?  Or are they all standalone services/daemons?
