Negative hacking balance...
« on: June 16, 2014, 05:02:37 pm »
What's the idea of negative hacking balance really?

Hacking balance doesn't increase enough to warrant it to drop so much due to successful hacks in my opinion.

I'm somewhat annoyed as I lost an interesting game due to knowledge hacking successfully thrice, ending up in Extreme hacking response, and getting around to 20 MKIII Raid starships attacking my planets. There weren't much that I could do...

How do I keep the hacking balance high enough when hacking in order to not provoke such response due to negative hacking balance?

Try to get more planets to increase AIP - it also adds to hacking balance then.

Every AIP you gain gets you 1 HP.  So destroying an AI planet's command station is worth 20 HP.

I had a  theory. If you knowledge hack a planet, but dont let it get up to the cap of 3000, you will only gain HP. Am I correct in this assumption?

Yes and No.

You can KP hack to 1500 on one planet and 1500 on another and that's basically the same as having KP hacked to 3000 in one place.

There might be extra math for going over the 3000 cap on a given planet, but the HP costs for any given action are exponential: eventually the costs will outpace the income.
