Downloaded the save (five times, because of an uncooperative computer), and it looks like you have a case of the nukes.

Using a nuclear warhead or triggering a nuclear eye prevents you (or the AI) from ever getting supply on a planet.

Nuclear astro trains and mining golems can cause the same effect, but you don't have those enabled.

If warheads can't solve it, use more warheads.

Iirc mining golem will have the same effect (but a really, REALLY early warning, last I checked). are those enabled?

Welcome to the fight jadedamion.

The "Nuclear Effect", destroying most ships in a system and making it so that system can never again have supply with all itssresource nodes are destroyed, can happen a few ways.

Note that this is actually a pretty rare condition, most games will not see the "Nuclear Effect" happen.

The most common is either the player using a Nuclear Warhead or a Mining Golem destroying a system.

As noted, the Nuclear Eye will also do this if you trigger one of those.

The re-vamped Astrotrains have a "Nuclear" train that could do it, but the Astrotrains minor faction has to be set pretty high to see that.

The "Nuclear Command" option under the AI Plots page during game setup will also do this, whenever a Command Station belonging to the AI with this option enable dies, it will nuke that system.

There is also a semi-nuke effect that the Scorched Earth AI type uses. When a command station belonging to a Scorched Earth AI dies, it 'Scorches' that system making it permanently out of supply and destroying the resource nodes in the same manner as a nuke. However, it does not destroy most ships in the system like a Nuclear Explosion does when triggered.

It is probably not the case based on what Faulty Logic saw in your save, but a very few structures, such as the Co-Processor, block player supply in the system while they are still alive.

As for a help section, there is a wiki being put together (see my sig), but it's only about 60% complete at the moment.

Hope that helps and hope to see you around some more.

D.

Not quite true. The Nuclear Command plot will destroy all non-nuke-immune ships in the system upon its destruction, but leaves the system intact.
If warheads can't solve it, use more warheads.

'insta kill' weapons deal technically infinite damage, and half of infinite is still infinite..

(they also are immune to forcefields though)

Mass drivers on the other hand should be built away from forcefields.

Alright, I downloaded the save and it looks like you triggered a Nuclear Eye in Asilinchu.

Quote
A Nuclear Eye is an enormously powerful nuclear device which can only be detonated by overload directly from the AI's warp grid.  The AI will only attempt to use the device when player ships gang up on the AI overwhelmingly (more than 2 to 1).  The only efficient way to kill the Eye (without killing the planet) is by destroying all of the non-wormhole guard posts of the AI on this planet, so you'll need to do guerrilla-style raids until it dies automatically with the last such guard post.

When fully charged, the Nuclear Eye will detonate and destroy everything (that isn't immune to nukes) on the planet, including the command station, and incur the usual +50 AIP for detonation of a nuclear warhead.  Nothing of value will remain.

So yes, that is a very nasty structure you ran over. It looks like the description is incomplete however. All 'Nuclear Effects' permanently stop supply in that system also. Actually going to mantis that so it gets updated.

I used cheats to figure that out and just a heads up that there are two more Nuclear Eyes in your current game.

Advanced Science Labs (or ARS) are seeded randomly. Usually there are 5 on the map.

Look for the Core Shield Generator Type A, they will be on the same worlds as the ARS.
